How to Plant Your Tree
- Choose an area that has enough root and height space for your future fully-grown trees. (avoid overhead wires and underground pipes.)
- Remove any grass or vegetation in circular area 3-5 times larger than the root ball of the sapling, and then loosen the ground in the cleared area.
- In the center of the cleared area dig a hole deep enough for the top of the root ball to be at ground level.
- After placing the root ball in the hole, fill the remaining space in the hole with the dirt you removed while digging.
- Pour water around the sapling to settle the soil and remove any air spaces.
- Cover the circular area with a thumb deep layer of mulch, but make sure to leave a hand length space not covered around the trunk of the sapling.
- Monitor the trees development and make sure it gets enough water and sunlight, and if it is in a windy area you may need to tie a stake to the developing tree so that it does not get killed by wind damage.
